About the Event

Spirit Level Trans and Out Of The Shadows are proud to present two screenings of "El Dorado: Everything The Nazis Hate" - one on Sunday 15th and one on Wednesday 18th. Each screening will be followed by a discussion about otherness, bigotry, how and why social groups and lifestyles are vilified and targeted. There's also a possibility of free popcorn!

About the documentary

The film is about the lives of LGBT people in the Weimar Republic and during the reign of Nazi Germany - particularly those in the titular Eldorado, a queer night club in Berlin. The film discusses queer figures in Germany during the 1920s and 1930s, such as Ernst Röhm, Magnus Hirschfeld, Gottfried von Cramm, Manasse Herbst, Charlotte Charlaque, and Toni Ebel. It also includes interviews with Walter Arlen, who grew…
