About the Event
Join Spirit Level Trans and KoKoKollective for a series of LGBTQ+ film screenings at Lovelocks to celebrate Black History Month! This time they'll be screening a landmark of the New Queer Cinema genre, The Watermelon Woman (1996) - a smart and engaging work of fictionalized autobiography that follows a video store clerk (played by director Cheryl Dunye) who sets out to make a documentary about a Black actress of the 1930s always credited as “Watermelon Woman.”
