Homotopia Launch Party

Homotopia 2025 opens its festival with an immersive evening of performance, community and solidarity inside Unity Theatre, completely embodying its theme for this year - Uprising; Right Here Right Now. With seats retracted and the space transformed into cabaret-style, the night invites audiences into something intimate, playful and boundary-blurring - blending drag, live music, visual art and collective action. Artists weave through the crowd, performances unfold around you, and the adjoining bar comes alive with conversation and connection. 

The centrepiece is a living archive: a three-sided mural installation that begins as a collaboration between graffiti artists and muralists, carrying messages of resistance and solidarity with trans people, Palestinians, migrants and all those targeted by the growing tide of fascism. On the night itself, the archive will expand as audience members add their own marks — stickers, lipstick, doodles, slogans — creating a communal work of art and a powerful backdrop…
