About the Event

"The Masquerade was a small Smokey basement nightclub in the city of Liverpool // Dirty and divine full of gay boys and lesbians, sex workers, drag queens, sailors and misfits // Known only to the privileged few // Those that the ordinary folk of the city called Degenerates"

Join for an atmospheric collection of stories that transport the audience to a queer slice of Liverpool in the 1970s and 80s - offering a window into playwright John de Tuite's remarkable career, and his peers of game changing queer creative talents on the brink of taking over the world. Expect shades of Lou Reed's 'Transformer', Dry Cleaning and David Bowie in Berlin, accompanied by orchestral swells, DIY noise and addictive hooks of John's distinctive spoken word delivery. The show features local drag artists and musicians bringing to life the fates of a cast of questionable queers who patronise 'the Masq', a…
